Flo really enjoys including charcoal as an integral part of her portraits, whether it be through the visible initial drawing or intentionally adding more charcoal as a part of her process. In this case the charcoal was added throughout the portrait painting and there is a lot more texture in this painting compared to Flo’s more recent work
